Who I Am
I grew up on a sheep farm in Central Wisconsin, where my father—a true jack of all trades—taught me that if something needed doing, you figured out how to do it yourself. We built our own buildings, ran our own electrical, plumbing, and gas lines—whatever the farm required, we handled it. I didn’t realize until my twenties that not everyone grew up that way. That upbringing gave me a deep confidence: if you put your mind to it, you can build or create anything.

In 1995, at the age of 25, I launched my first business: R. Benjamin Furniture Design Studio, where I designed and built custom furniture, cabinetry, and woodwork. Since then, I’ve taken every opportunity to expand my skills across all the building trades. If it was new and challenging, I was all in.

Today, I’m proficient in all the trades and an expert in several. I approach every project with a comprehensive understanding of its many moving parts. I run my business solo, which means I’m personally involved in every step—from the initial consultation to the final cleanup. This hands-on approach allows me to deliver highly personalized service and maintain the quality that keeps my clients coming back.

Home improvement projects can be disruptive. I understand that I’m working in your home—your safe space—and I take that responsibility seriously. I go out of my way to minimize the impact of the remodeling process:
